11 Plus
For the cohort starting Year 7 in September 2021 (current Year 5), the admissions criteria to KEVI schools is changing.
Further information about these changes and catchment areas is available here
In Birmingham, there are 8 grammar schools:
- These schools are state schools and do not charge fees.
- The examination for these schools (and the Warwickshire 11 Plus, which is joint) was on 7 September 2019.
- Entry was previously offered based on examination results but will be linked to location from 2020 entry, for KEVI schools only.
- These changes do not affect admission to Bishop Vesey's or Sutton Coldfield Grammar for Girls, who continue to admit by examination score, not location.
- The information below regarding 'last entry score' concerns previous years.
- For 2020 entry, the last score to all KEVI Grammars will be set at 222 for children in catchment (205 if Pupil Premium eligible)
- The score for out of catchment children is unknown as yet.
- The new admission changes for the KEVI Grammars will raise (possibly significantly) the last score into the other West Midlands Grammars for 2021 entry.
